Wanted to share this case with you all. Received this Western Digital My Passport drive that was opened by the customer. We were not notified that the cover was opened and SURPRISE!!!! All the warranty stickers were tampered with.

Initial Diagnosis:

We opened the drive in our clean room and of course, there was major contamination. I can’t stress how important it is to NOT open the drive cover or power on a drive if it suffered a drop or is making any clicking or beeping sounds.

Data Recovery Update:

Ultimately, NEVER open the drive cover. We are waiting for approval from the customer to proceed.
