Data Recovery – WD 3TB My Passport – Clean Room

Data Recovery Issue:

Data Recovery for a Western Digital My Passport  3TB which is beeping. Customer is stating that there are no clicking sounds coming from the drive, just beeping.

Initial Diagnosis:

When we connected the drive to our system, we had to turn it off almost immediately as the sound was more similar to a click then a beep.

Data Recovery Update:

We opened the drive cover in our Clean Room and the top platter looked okay for the most part. We removed the heads and it was immediately clear that the heads are badly damaged physically.
We have to order donor parts for this customer’s case and see if we are able to recover the data.

Clean Room Data Recovery Cost:

If we are able to recover the data, our fee is flat rate $950.00.
